Collaborative Angel Project – Newest Addition to the CSL
Posted on: Sunday,July,29th,2012 at 11:52 am
We are pleased to announce our newest project in partnership with local artist Joe LaMantia. Joe is working on a collaborative art project that will be installed on the west side of Auto Heaven (located on the B-Line at Allen Avenue). The Collaborative Angel Project will create a 3-dimensional 10’x10’x3’ angel sculpture made from recycled traffic signs, automobile, and bicycle parts. We are very excited by Joe’s use of recycled materials and his collaborative style that will bring community members together to create the sculpture the last week of September in front of the WFHB radio station.
The Angel Project will also be dedicated as a memorial to Jeanne Walters, a friend to Bloomington whose commitment to community was experienced by many through her real estate business, her patronage of the arts, and her involvement in many community programs.
In order to cover the costs of the sculpture, the Angel Project is applying for a grant which requires matching funds and is hoping to raise $7,000 in donations or pledges by August 15th. Anyone interested in contributing can e-mail the Center to let us know of your intention or simply mail in a check made to the Center for Sustainable Living at P.O. Box 1665 • Bloomington, Indiana 47402 with the memo line “Collaborative Angel Project.” (At this point, we are unable to collect donations online or process credit card payments.)
Stay tuned for updates on how you can get involved with the sculpture creation in September!
